Granville Corn Maze

Maze Opens October 5th

North Carolina hayride

If you are looking for something fun to do this fall, a hayride is the perfect excuse to get outside and do something fun. You will most likely want to make a day of it, so be sure that you allow plenty of time to enjoy all of the attractions fully.

Our hayride will take you through the nine-acre corn maze that is a special salute to our military this year. There will also be a Military Appreciation Day as well as a Veteran Kiosk to honor our many brave heroes.

Our hayride is a great way to enjoy the crisp Autumn weather, and it won’t break the bank. You will delight all of your senses from the crisp fresh air to all the vibrant colors of fall.

You haven’t lived until you have explored our farm on a hayride. The best part is you get a free hayride when you buy a ticket for the corn maze. There are many attractions to check out when you visit our farm, so it won’t be hard to find something fun to do for the entire family. Be sure to bring your friends as well!

The hayride is a part of our culture and American heritage. The hayride originated in Kansas and has been enjoyed for centuries. Since then, the hayride has evolved into a new and exciting Zombie Paintball Hayride. It is just one of the many ways to have some fun in the outdoors with your friends and family here at the Granville farm.

Or if you prefer to keep it more traditional, you can also enjoy a good old fashioned hayride through the corn maze and pumpkin patch. The best part is the view. Since you are higher up you can enjoy a scenic yet leisurely ride through the main attractions of the farm while you get to explore a lot of area at the same time.

Or, if you have chosen to venture on the Zombie hayride, you will have a better scope on the zombies that are hiding in the fields. It takes place at night so you will need all the help you can get.

Both hayrides are pulled by a tractor, and you will feel as if you have stepped back into a time of a simpler way of life, free from the hustle and bustle of daily life. A hayride is a great way to unwind and really enjoy yourself.

How To Enjoy Your Hayride

A hayride is a lot of fun, but if you suffer from allergies, you may want to make sure you either take an allergy medication prior to coming or bring it with you in case your symptoms flare-up.

Different people react differently to the hay, and you want to make sure that you won’t be miserable during your visit. Wear long sleeves and pants because you may come into contact with the hay, which can be somewhat abrasive and uncomfortable against bare skin.

It’s good to wear layers such as a flannel shirt that you can tie around your waist when you get hot or a puffy vest that will keep you warm without making you sweat. You may also want to bring a backpack to keep a few essentials in such as your wallet, and any other items you might bring with you.

You will want to wear tall boots over sandals or even sneakers since you may be walking through the corn maze or the pumpkin patch. These areas are not paved and will contain dirt or other debris that can get into your shoes. Boots will also keep you nice and warm — especially if you plan to visit later in the evening when the weather tends to get chilly.

Be sure to pack your camera! There will be plenty of opportunities to take pictures, and you will be able to preserve your memories for years to come. You could even bring a blanket along to keep you even more cozy and comfortable.

Safety First

If you are enjoying the hayride with small children, you want to be sure that they are sitting on your lap or are sitting in the middle of the hay bales rather than in the end or in the front. That way they are much less likely to accidentally fall off the trailer as the tractor ride is going to be somewhat bumpy. It may even be helpful to explain to them how you expect them to behave while on the hayride so they know what to do and they will be safe.

A portable step stool will be available to make it easier for elderly folks and small children to get onto the trailer.

If you take a hayride, you will be sitting on bales of straw but for the Zombie hayride, you will be sitting on a bench. The Zombie hayride is equipped with paintball guns so you will be able to shoot any zombies that get too close.

When To Take A Hayride

A hayride is perfect for a date night, is great for family fun, and even for a solo trip. It’s a great way to relieve stress or to take a break during a busy time of the year. A hayride is a nostalgic and must-do fall activity. You will get into the season and have a great opportunity to scope out the pumpkins you want to get for your front step and decorate your home.

Stock Up On Pumpkins

We offer a wide range of pumpkins, and you will find a bigger variety of better pumpkins at our farm than other locations in the area. Children 10 years of age and under can take a small pumpkin for free from the pumpkin patch, and large pumpkins are only .50 cents a pound.

Before you go, be sure that you get everything you need to make your trip as enjoyable as possible. This list may include:

  • Warm clothing/blanket
  • Tall but comfortable boots or other enclosed footwear
  • Camera
  • Some money for pumpkins or treats
  • Backpack to store a few items

Of course, you will enjoy the hayride no matter what you bring, but having these essential items will make it that much more enjoyable. The more comfortable you are, the longer you can stay and enjoy your visit. Hope to see you soon!
